Biochar production is a delicate and controlled process. Biomass must be heated in an enclosed space with limited oxygen, allowing it to convert into biochar through smoldering combustion rather than open burning. The ideal oxygen concentration for this process typically falls between 16% and 21%. We've conducted numerous trials to fine-tune the design of our kiln’s air intake—ensuring the inner chamber allows just the right amount of airflow: enough to sustain smoldering, but not so much that it turns into full combustion.
To enhance the durability and longevity of our biochar kilns, we've upgraded their welding process. All spot welds have been replaced with continuous seam welding, allowing the kilns to better withstand prolonged high temperatures and rapid cooling cycles. This improvement significantly reduces the risk of structural damage, ensuring greater reliability and performance over time.
All of our stainless steel biochar kilns are constructed with thick materials, measuring 0.073 inches in thickness. This significantly improves the longevity of our kilns. The materials used in our cold-rolled steel kilns are even thicker, which is why we consider them heavy-duty.
